Leading up to the Toronto Raptors 2017-18 season I was assigned the task of creating an exclusive gift for our Season Ticket Members. With much excitement and months of brainstorming, exploring possibilities and working with multiple partners (both internal and external), we collectively decided to create a limited edition Toronto Raptors hat – exclusive to Raptors clients and Season Ticket Members only. We decided to partner with Mitchell & Ness to execute this project because we felt that the overall quality of their products, their attention to detail, and their position in the marketplace as a lifestyle-fashion leader was the right fit for what our objective was.
Throughout the process of reviewing various designs, exploring options with materials and working with our Marketing team to ensure brand-consistency, not only were we able to lock down a final design but we also decided to create two versions of this exclusive gift. Our strategy was to provide a more unique and tailored gift specific to the multiple tiers of our clientele. While each design holds its own unique features, both designs boast a commemorative Members Only Toronto Raptors patch that is proudly displayed on its side, along with a “Limited Edition” tag on the inside – two features that would not be included on any other Toronto Raptors hat found at retail.
To cap off this amazing experience the Toronto Raptors marketing team decided to feature the hats in their monthly marketing email campaign. A product that I created and could call my own would be featured as the Raptors’ “Benefit of the Month”, and it would be communicated to thousands of people. Seeing this featured in the official Toronto Raptors email communication was a great way to close this chapter.
